…captures the true spirit of Christmas
While life on the streets is physically hard and often dangerous, it’s the emotional isolation and the removal of an identity which devastates. It’s the fact that you’re completely ignored by the world around you – not seen, not acknowledged, and rendered invisible – that is so emotionally draining, leaving you without the strength and resilience to begin to tackle the often massive practical problems you face.
The parallels between the 1840s and today are striking – Dickens’s critique is as valid now as it was in the 1840s, his biting satire as pertinent now as it was then. True to the spirit of The Chimes, this production has invited a number of men and women who have been homeless and are now striving to rebuild their lives with the support of The Wallich, the Huggard, The Passage and St. Mungo’s to participate in a professional theatre production.
The weaving of the non-professional and professional has, in recent years, created works of stunning originality. Our professional cast and community ensemble have come together to create a magical seasonal alternative, packed full of colourful characters and haunting melodies, which will touch your heart and inspire your soul.
Our production of The Chimes will be performed in two locations. Please see below for more information and tickets.
